Committee

Hillhead Hockey Club has a dedicated committee for each of its playing sections. This allows us to work collaboratively but also focus on the key issues faced by each individual section. Each committee is filled with dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to make us one of the top hockey clubs in the country on the pitch, in the clubhouse and for developing youngsters.

Our Leaders

Olivia Robertson (right)
Ladies’ Co-President

Hello! I’m Liv (or Olivia), and welcome to Hillhead!

I joined Hillhead Ladies after finishing university in 2019 - I’m originally from Edinburgh but I moved to Glasgow as a uni student in 2015 and I’ve been here ever since. I came along to a summer hockey match for the Hillhead Roadrunners and was hooked! Moving on from university life and joining the real world was somewhat daunting, but the friendly welcome I received from Hillhead made it so much easier.

Since joining Hillhead I have played in the Ladies 1XI and I have absolutely loved it! I also play Indoor during the winter break. Some highlights from my time at the club include finishing 5th (very nearly 4th!!) in the Premiership in season 21/22 and the Hillhead Burns Supper 2023 and toasting (roasting) the ‘laddies’. Most weekends I enjoy playing alongside my teammates, supporting some of our other teams, and finishing at the club house! There’s always something going on 💙💛

Jenny Sinclair (left)
Ladies Co-President

Hey! I'm Jenny, the older half of the Hillhead Ladies' Co-Presidency.

I've been a member of Hillhead since I was at school, so about 14 years now, not including a 3 year break when I went to Aberdeen Uni in 2010. I started at Hillhead Juniors and gradually worked my way up to the 1st XI, where I currently play. I also play indoor for the national squad over the winter months and summer hockey over the summer break (I'm not sure I play enough hockey...).

I have been a part of the committee for over 6 years in various roles and am delighted to share the Presidency with Liv. We pride ourselves in being an inclusive, family friendly club whilst also striving to compete at the highest level. I know I'm biased, but I think we strike the perfect balance. It's also a privilege to be the only hockey club in Scotland to be affiliated with LEAP Sport Scotland who work for greater inclusion for LGBTI+ people in sport. We want our sport to be fun for anyone and everyone.

You can usually find me either playing, watching or umpiring hockey each weekend and then most likely socialising with club mates back at Woodend.

I'm always open if anyone wants or needs to chat about anything! 💙💛

Geoff Duke - Men’s President

Hello! I am proud to have previously been President of Hillhead HC from 2015-2018, followed by Membership Secretary and now starting my second stint as President.

Since joining in 1983, I have enjoyed playing and socialising in a club that encourages and facilitates performance development, values good sportsmanship, and offers a family friendly environment.

On the playing side, I managed to clock up 19 seasons for the 1st XI, before finally retiring when we got promoted to NL2 in 2002. I have since enjoyed playing for all of our other teams, including our development team and our Vets. I was honoured to be selected for the Scotland Over 50s squad in 2008 and Over 60s squad in 2018.

Prior to joining Hillhead, I played for Edinburgh University and Strathclyde University (where I was selected for the Scottish Universities team). I had the benefit of learning to play at Banbridge HC, one of the top Irish clubs. I have a strong interest in the development of players and helped to coach our juniors for 15 years, a very rewarding activity. I am particularly proud of introducing my three sons Andrew, Callum and Iain to hockey and have enjoyed seeing them develop and play for the club.

I acknowledge the tremendous efforts of the many members that have helped the club get to its current status. I have contributed to the management of the club through committee work and liaising with external stakeholders.

Having previously held positions as President, Membership Secretary, team captain and club treasurer, I will continue to help Hillhead realise its ambitions in terms of performance and to be recognised as an attractive, reputable and respected club. In doing so, I will seek to ensure there is strong social cohesion within the club and to foster our relationships with our Ladies and Junior clubs, Woodend, other clubs, Scottish Hockey, and other relevant organisations.
